Not the Best Week
There's something to be said for endurance. When you go through certain things that really test you, often the only thing you can really take from a situation is whether or not you maintained your composure. We often find out during these little testing times whether our character stood up to scrutiny, whether we really are as firm as a redwood, or weak like a twig that snaps when you step on it. Last week I came across some moron I hadn't seen in 8 years, who was basically the same scumbag he was back in college, I've driven probably about 2,000 miles in the last couple of weeks, and the girl I got into an accident with over a month ago finally contacted me with an outrageous estimate to repair her car. I think I went batshit crazy for a few hours. It's just what you do. And now I'm trying to figure out how to pay for some things in the next few weeks, I've gotta buy a birthday gift for my wife's best friend, cuz she hasn't seen in a while, and I need to figure out what it is we're going to pay for, because we have to travel to Arizona to go to the party... And I'm trying to get myself a new iPod because mine's starting to crash, and I'm trying to self-publish a book which is pricey if you want it done right. And what does all this mean? It means in the midst of trying to write, and thinking my problems center on my writing, I have to remember problems come up in other places too.
